Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR or LPR for short) is a technology that utilises optical character recognition and AI to identify vehicle registration plates. This can use a video source from existing CCTVs, cameras used by traffic enforcement units, or even cameras specifically designed for this task. This is currently being used by law enforcement units worldwide to monitor traffic, electronic toll collection, and vehicle registration status.
